Remarks

• closely related to Laevichlamys rubromaculata (Sowerby II, 1842) from the same region but L. superficialis can be recognized by its less delicate structure with broader ribs and spines.

• Very close to Azumapecten ruschenbergerii (Tryon, 1869) from the Gulf of Oman but L. superficialis is generally smaller.
